About the VSR Showdown at the Shannons Nationals
A new breed of drivers will be given their chance to shine at Sydney Motorsport Park, with CAMS teaming up with Motum Simulation to host the Shannons Nationals first ever Esports event as part of the opening round of the VSR Showdown.
For Round 1 at Shannons Nationals, drivers from the physical and virtual worlds will go head-to-head in a knock-out competition, with the winner of the event getting a chance to show off their real world skills with a test day in a CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship car.
For those in Sim Racing that haven’t had the budget to go real world racing, here is a great opportunity to experience the thrill of driving a high performance vehicle and impress the motor sport world.

Unlike the usual sim racing, they’ll be using a full motion rig with virtual reality. This unique, immersive experience blurs the lines between the real and the virtual, creating an even playing field for all drivers.
The game of choice is iRacing, which is arguably the industry-standard in competitive sim racing simulations. iRacing is used as a training tool by professional racing drivers and teams to develop technique and improve driver performance and provide the most intense simulated racing experience you will find.
The VSR Showdown 2018 is also the first Esports series to be officially sanctioned by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport, with the world’s first E-Licence Holders to be formally presented with their digital licences by the sanctioning body.
CAMS will be officiating proceedings and ensuring the driving standards and sportsmanship are held in the highest of regards.

The VSR Showdown 2018 Round 1 Final will also feature online as part of the Shannons Nationals live stream tomorrow.

“We saw a lot of the motor sport community come in to set times,” Simon Feigl, Sales and Marketing Manager at Motum said.
“The feedback of the simulator and the realism that it combined with iRacing provided was fantastic.
“A lot of fun was had by everyone and it generated quite a bit of interest in the paddock.
“The fastest times from yesterday were quite interesting, as it was from across a number of categories, and results being varied from what you may see in the ‘real world’ categories.”
