Brett Holdsworth will make his Trico Trans Am Series return at this month’s EVENTelec Race Queensland, teaming up with Garry Rogers Motorsport.
The first four rounds of the 2024 season saw Tim Slade behind the wheel of the Breeze Holiday Parks entry, with Holdsworth taking over from EVENTelec Race Queensland. It’s a reunion of sorts for Holdsworth, having donned the branding in 2022 and 2023.
Having previously finished within the top three of the Trico Trans Am Series standings twice, an achievement shared only with two-time series winner Nathan Herne, Holdsworth will bring a breadth of experience to the series ahead of the fifth round of 2024.
It won’t be the first time the Holdsworth name has featured in a GRM driver lineup, with Lee Holdsworth representing the Rogers squad in Supercars Championships from 2005 to 2011.
“I just caught up with Barry and Garry and was just saying it’s amazing because it’s spot on 20 years since Lee first walked in the door here, so it was kind of cool to walk in here as a GRM driver all these years later,” said Holdsworth.
“Great to be back in the category and back with Breeze Holiday Parks, keen to see what we can do at Queensland Raceway.
“The depth in the field is crazy now, so I’ll just feel my way and have a crack.”
A homecoming on two counts, the Gold Coast driver won’t have to travel far for his return race at Queensland Raceway and will be in good company alongside the five-car GRM fleet of James Moffat, James Golding, Edan Thornburrow, Tom Davis and now Holdsworth.
“The big benefit for me is going to be being able to overlay the data with four other cars, or at least one other car.
“That was the big thing for me in the past is I always ran as a one car team with Ash Seward Motorsport.
“The one thing I need to say is I could not have been happier with what Ash did with my car over the past years, awesome team, preparation and always looked immaculate.
“To compare what I’m doing against the best drivers in the field, it’s going to be a huge advantage for me and I’m excited to get it going,” Holdsworth concluded.
