Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships fan favourites, the National Trans Am Series, will have two more rounds to see off the 2021 season.
Having already run three rounds at Shannons events this year, including the most recent at Sydney Motorsport Park in May, the series will appear in two Supercars Championship events during November and December.
While it was already confirmed to form part of a bumper schedule at Mount Panorama for the six-day Bathurst 1000, Supercars has included the fast-growing category to the bill for the last of its four consecutive events at Eastern Creek.
The series will now run the fifth round of its inaugural season during the Sydney SuperNight on 19-21 November, before concluding at Mount Panorama over the first week of December.
Category Manager Liam Curkpatrick was thrilled the series would get two more rounds. .
“It’s exciting to have the National Trans Am Series restart after the frustrations of border closures,” Curkpatrick said.
“Our competitors have been very eager to get back out on track, and as soon as we were able to offer this opportunity at Sydney Motorsport Park, there were no complaints.
“To be back racing again will be exciting. We can’t wait for National Trans Am to resume ahead of what promises to be a tight conclusion to the title at Bathurst.”
As it stands, Aaron Seton and his Ford Mustang currently leads the series by the smallest of margins with just four points separating he and Dodge driver Nathan Herne – both of whom won races during the last meeting at Eastern Creek.
The newly included round at Sydney Motorsport Park will run it’s the category’s usual format with practice and qualifying sessions to set up three 11-lap races.
