Thornburrow to team up with Valvoline in 2024

Edan Thornburrow has received a major boost ahead of his second year in the National Trans Am Series after securing Valvoline as his major sponsor for the 2024 season.

Not only has the 20-year-old picked up Valvoline as his new sponsor, but the Garry Rogers Motorsport driver will also be in the Ford Mustang chassis Lochie Dalton used to pick up second outright last season.

The big move comes off the back of a new American collaboration inspired by William Byron’s 2024 NASCAR Cup Series scheme, where Thornburrow’s Ford Mustang will don a simple blue, white and red colour scheme.

“The opportunity to represent Valvoline is very exciting, and I know the crew is going to give me an excellent car just like last year,” Thornburrow said.

“Last year was a great learning experience in working with a team, it was the first year I’ve had that, being able to bounce off teammates, share video and data and have that group of people around me.

“It’s pretty unique, the amount of laps I’ve done in these cars is right up there, but a lot of the others have a lot more experience outside of Trans Am. Hopefully those miles in Trans Am machinery will give me a bit of an edge this year.

“Adelaide is the only round I didn’t do, and I was so bummed out watching that on TV. I really can’t wait to get there at the end of the year and get a look at my first street circuit as well.

“Just a massive thank you to Barry and Garry Rogers and Valvoline for their support.”

In his first full Trans Am season, Thornburrow enjoyed a remarkable run of consistent finishes inside the top five throughout the year, eventually finishing 12th overall.

Amongst his strong finishes, Thornburrow picked up three podium places with his best result coming at the iconic Mount Panorama where he claimed a second-place finish.

The opening round of the National Trans Am Series forms part of the Shannons SpeedSeries’ Race Sandown, which takes place on 9-11 February.

Tickets for Race Sandown are still available to purchase, with Trans Am to feature in the jam-packed 7plus broadcast, while select races will be shown free-to-air on the Seven Network.
