TCM to welcome experienced campaigner in 2022

The Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters (TCM) will welcome a new driver in 2022 with Warren Trewin to enjoy a full season in the popular series with SNB Berryman Racing.

Having been a regular competitor in the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Camaro in recent times, Trewin opted for a change during the off season, switching the Camaro for a HQ Monaro GTS 350 with plenty of history.

The Victorian has made a name for himself by producing impressive entries over the years and his 2022 TCM Monaro will prove no different with the noted designer Tim Pattinson behind the livery.

While Trewin enters the category with 10-years of experience in motorsport, having strong stints in HQ Holdens, Production Car racing and Trans Am, the Monaro has a past just as decorated.

A proven race winner, the car has been driven by a number of talented steerers, including original builder and driver, Tony Edwards, as well as Jim Pollicina and Dean Lille.

Ahead of his TCM debut, Trewin was excited for the new challenge.

“Coming into TCM with this car is like life’s full circle. I started HQ Racing and was competitive – we had national podiums, and all the usual highs and lows,” Trewin said.

“After that I moved on to Production Car stuff with our Commodores, including the Bathurst 6 Hour.

“We got to the point where I wanted to look around for something else and TCM was hugely appealing for us.

“I’m never going to beat a JB (John Bowe) or (Steve) Johnson, but I want to have a cool car and do some different tracks we’ve never done.

“It will give us some good experiences and in a cool thing.

“I’m really looking forward to it, to be in the category and racing alongside all the different cars and drivers.”

The Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters will have six rounds in 2022, with the season opener to take place in Newcastle on 4-6 March.
