Stars return for TCR Sunshine State round

The return of 2019 Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series Champion Will Brown and fan-favourite Tim Slade headline a mostly unchanged entry list for the series’ fourth round at Queensland Raceway this weekend.

Returning after a long two-month break from racing action, the series will see 13 entries take on ‘the paperclip’ for three action-packed days as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.

After missing the previous round at Winton Motor Raceway, Brown will return to for his home race as his search for a maiden podium in 2023 continues following a troubled first half of the season.

“It was a little bit disappointing that I had to miss out at Winton, but with the first couple of rounds being so tough, we were keen to have a reset,” Brown said.

“It will be good to be back (in TCR), obviously the first two rounds weren’t that good to us and the title race, but I’m looking forward to competing at Queensland Raceway.

“I raced at Queensland Raceway in 2019 and we were quite strong, so I don’t see any reason why we can’t be again.”

The return of Slade is the other change from last round after it was announced last week the Queenslander would replace Winton race winner, Tom Oliphant in the Lynk & Co entry.

Series leader, Bailey Sweeny headlines the rest of the unchanged field and will look to extend his lead at the top of the standings after an outstanding first half of the year.

While Sweeny’s lead was solid at the break, all his closest title contenders including teammate Josh Buchan, Jordan Cox, Aaron Cameron and Lachlan Mineeff will be looking to close the gap on the breakaway leader.
