Fresh and familiar faces will be part of the Shannons SpeedSeries on air line up in 2024, with the talent group confirmed ahead of Race Sandown.
2023 regulars Greg Rust, Chris Stubbs, Matt Naulty and Richard Craill will again be part of the broadcast across the Seven Network starting with Race Sandown this week, with Sarah Burt and Cameron van den Dungen to also join the on-air team.
Burt has significant sports broadcasting and hosting experience, having been a key part of on-air teams for AFL and AFLW broadcasts and also during her time as a journalist with the 7NEWS.com.au. She has also worked with a number of sporting bodies across Australia as an experienced host and MC. van den Dungen, meanwhile, is no stranger to motorsport broadcasts, having been part of Formula 1, Supercars and Shannons SpeedSeries events over recent years – as well as competing at various levels of the sport.
Trans Am and Supercars driver Todd Hazelwood will also be part of the Sandown broadcast, along with reigning Supercheap Auto TCR Australia champion, Josh Buchan.
It is also expected a selection of other experienced hosts and commentators will be part of the broadcast in 2024 depending on round schedules, along with current drivers in the Shannons SpeedSeries’ category line up to be featured as part of the on-air mix.
This year’s events will be broadcast across the Seven Network, with both Saturday and Sunday’s action live and free on 7plus, along with free-to-air coverage on 7mate on both Saturday and Sunday.
Motorsport Australia is also pleased to confirm that Rainmaker will be its production partner, starting at Race Sandown for the opening Shannons SpeedSeries event, with their significant experience across sport to deliver a strong broadcast offering. Rainmaker have covered a number of national level codes including AFLW, Speedway, hockey, surfing, bowls and plenty more.
The Rainmaker team includes a crew with plenty of motorsport experience, with Dean Neal to take on the Supervising Producer role. Neal has previously led Shannons SpeedSeries broadcasts, at the helm during the then Shannons Nationals broadcasts during TCR’s first year in Australia. Rainmaker’s General Manager Trent Miller has worked across motorsport for many years, having led a wide range of broadcast events both in Australia and abroad.
Motorsport Australia CEO Sunil Vohra said this year’s broadcasts promised to provide a superb calendar of racing.
“We’re delighted to be working with a really great group of on-air talent who are all very passionate about what they do and also thrilled to be working with Rainmaker to deliver a great broadcast offering on the Seven network starting with Race Sandown,” Vohra said.
“The category line up across the whole year, along with some exciting race formats, provides an excellent broadcast offering that will feature back-to-back racing each day. We’re also really keen to tell the stories of the paddock, with so many talented drivers and teams that make the Shannons SpeedSeries great.
“With all rounds live and free on 7plus, and a number of broadcast windows across free-to-air, this year is looking like a strong year for the Shannons SpeedSeries.”
