A bumper schedule has been confirmed for the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships’ visit to The Bend Motorsport Park later this month.
One of the major components featured at The Bend Autofest, the final Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships event for the year promises to be a spectacle with more than 18 hours of track time on the cards.
Spread over three days, there will be five regular categories on show throughout the meeting, including the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia Series, Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS, Australian Production Cars, Radical Cup Australia and GC Marine Australian Prototype Series.
Sharing the spotlight with The Bend Classic, which will be held at the track’s West Circuit, there will be multiple opportunities for fans to watch their favourite categories in action.
All five categories will enjoy similar formats to previous Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships event via practice and qualifying sessions and multiple races.
The always competitive Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge will feature three races, while the Australian Production Cars will enjoy the most track time with four one-hour races, two each occurring on both Saturday and Sunday, while the GTs will have one one-hour endurance race on both days to complement its two qualifying sessions on the Saturday morning.
Like the GTs, the Radical Australia Cup have an endurance race on Saturday and Sunday, with competitors to battle for points over two 45-minute affairs.
While the GC Marine Australian Prototype Series will also have three races across the event.
As for the Classic, its two competing categories of Classic/Formula and Vintage cars will have around an hour each across the weekend spread over four and five 15-minute sessions.
Saturday’s competition stands as the longest day of the three with the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships and The Bend Classic taking centre stage for almost 10 hours.
However, with the addition of the RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship (ARC) also running at The Bend Motorsport Park, Friday and Sunday stand as the two busiest days.
The Bend Autofest will get underway on Friday morning with the Radical Cup Australia’s first practice session at 8:00am ACDT, before the ARC wraps up the day’s business at 9:30pm.
On Saturday, the Australian Production Cars kicks things off with the first of its four races at 7:30am ACDT with The Bend Classic’s Formula session to conclude the day at 5:10pm.
