Shannons Insurance continues its support of Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia

Respected Australian insurance brand Shannons will continue its support of Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia as it aims to win the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS title.

Shannons continues its support of previous series runner up Liam Talbot alongside Fraser Ross, who will contest a part season due to overseas racing commitments.

The association between the team and Shannons began at least year’s penultimate round at The Bend Motorsport Park in October, with the support continuing into the Adelaide finale where the season was rounded out by victory.

Talbot is aiming for one step better in 2023 with the help of some Audi Sport aces during the season as Ross’ Le Mans Cup commitments force him to miss the opening two rounds at Bathurst and Perth.

The factory driver set to join Talbot at Mount Panorama this weekend is Max Hofer and in Perth, regular visitor to these shores Christopher Mies will take over the seat ahead of Ross’ return at Phillip Island, one of three rounds to be featured on the Shannons SpeedSeries program.

Talbot and Ross have already tasted success this season when the duo were joined by Chaz Mostert to take out Pro-Am Class honours at the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour in February.

Shannons Insurance will be joined in supporting the entry this year by Gtechniq Australia, Scuderia Autoart, Wash-It and Monochrome.

The opening round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS starts at Mount Panorama this weekend as part of the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour in-conjunction with the Shannons SpeedSeries.

Fraser Ross

Shannons Insurance/Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia

“It’s great to continue with a brand like Shannons in motorsport,” said Ross.

“Obviously we had a great last two rounds in South Australia for the team at The Bend Motorsport Park and the Valo Adelaide 500, so we’re ecstatic to welcome Shannons back to the Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia team.

“Shannons support has also been extended to the Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia program in Supercheap Auto TCR Australia with Will Brown.

“It’s exciting to have Shannons part of the Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia family.

“It’s nice to continue the momentum that we have, but mine is a part-time season due to my Le Mans Cup commitments, though I’m excited to re-join the team at Phillip Island.

“The advantage of being with a team like this is the ability to install factory drivers and the support is just amazing compared to other manufacturers at this scale or capacity. It’s great for the team and for Liam as it helps him move forward before I rejoin the team to finish the year strong.

“Troy (Russell) runs a great outfit, Liam and I have a lot of fun, plus get some great results. They helped Liam to second in the title last year as we took numerous podium and race wins along the way, with the highlight being the Pro-Am Class win at Bathurst alongside Chaz Mostert.

“We are very excited to be continuing our support of Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia. Troy and crew have done a fabulous job in getting the newly liveried Audi R8 ready for the season ahead. We are equally as excited to have Liam & Fraser piloting the car again whilst also welcoming some talented guest drivers in Frasers short absence.

We are all looking forward to the season opener of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia this weekend at Mt Panorama for round 2 of the Shannons SpeedSeries.”
