Samadi announces full GT World Challenge campaign

Veteran Ash Samadi has confirmed he will contest the full Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS season in 2024, with the amateur driver to run with Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.

The reigning championship-winning team will be bringing a large collection of cars to popular GT series this year, with Samadi to pilot an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo 2.

Although the New South Welshman will continue racing in the AM class, he brings a wealth of motorsport experience with him, having been competing since the mid 2000s, while spending the last decade in between the Porsche Carrera Cup and GT racing.

Last year, Samadi enjoyed a successful part-time stint in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia, highlighted by AM podiums at Queensland Raceway, while also taking part in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia at Sepang International Raceway.

Now locked in to run a full campaign in the series, Samadi was excited for what the category will look like in 2024.

“This year with the new SRO Australia management and structure, it’s very exciting,” Samadi said.

“I’m pretty positive about the category and excited to contest the entire series.

“It’s going more towards the GT World Challenge Asia way of running things, which is good and something that I’m keen for.

“We are pretty proud of the results from last year, and it’s great to link up with the Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia team. The team does an excellent job as the biggest operation in terms of GT racing locally. The team did a brilliant job last season and for my first round in Asia as well, so full marks to them.

“We had a couple of podiums last year and my aim is to add a few more as I try to run as high as I can in Am Class. If this year we can better last season, I will be happy.

“I love driving the Audi. It’s suited for my sort of driving in it being very active and I’m keen to stay with Audi. I started off in the Mosler but have been on and off in the category for around 15 years.”

The Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS will kick off its 2024 season at Race Phillip Island and will join the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series, Trico Trans Am, Monochrome GT4 Australia, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia and the Workhorse Radical Cup Australia at the Shannons SpeedSeries event.

Race Phillip Island takes place at the famous Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on 12-14 April.
