Marcos Flack will make his Mount Panorama debut in the opening round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS this weekend.
Flack will drive his Sonic Motor Racing Services-prepared Porsche 991.2 Cup in the two one hour races around the famous mountain circuit as part of the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.
The second-generation driver will compete in the same Porsche that he races in the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, competing in the GT3 Trophy class.
It marks his racing debut at Mount Panorama after a strong ‘tin top’ debut in Sprint Challenge at Phillip Island recently where he qualified on pole.
The 16-year-old has made a fast start to his racing career, competing across the world in various junior open wheel categories, including Formula 4 and Formula 3.
During his overseas travels, he has raced at famous tracks around the world like Spa Francorchamps, Barcelona and Silverstone.
This weekend, he gets to tick Mount Panorama off his track list, and he is looking forward to the experience.
“I’ve raced a lot of iconic tracks so it will be special to race at Australia’s most iconic track,” said Flack.
“The last round of Porsche Sprint Challenge is at Bathurst this year, so this weekend will all be about gathering knowledge and putting me in the best position for the last round.
“I’ve been to the track many times before, but never to race.
“It’s also the first street-style track that I’ve ever raced on, and I can only imagine that this is going to live up to my expectations.
“But really, I’m going there to learn and see what it’s like.
“We were happy with the first round. We got the pole, but the races didn’t come together. It was my debut round in a tin top race car, so it’s given us some areas to work on in the coming rounds.”
Track action kicks off on Friday with practice followed by qualifying and racing on Saturday and Sunday.
