Queensland Raceway refreshed and ready for Motorsport Australia events

Queensland Raceway will see more Motorsport Australia events at the venue this year after the circuit received its track licence.

It is scheduled to host the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships as its first major event in August this year, and will now also be able to hold local, state and other national events including the Repco Supercars Championship.

Tickets for that event are now on sale here

Having been taken over by Tony Quinn last year, the businessman has been hard at work renovating the Ipswich-based circuit to get it to a high-standard, including installing appropriate safety features to obtain the Motorsport Australia licence.

From building new infrastructure, creating a new logo and even renovating the restrooms, Quinn has done a complete makeover of the circuit since taking over the lease, management, and operation of the circuit.

Having visited the circuit to see the new changes with Motorsport Australia’s Director of Motorsport & Commercial Operations Michael Smith and Division Manager of Safety & Race Operations David Stuart, Motorsport Australia CEO Eugene Arocca was left highly impressed with the changes.

“Michael Smith, David Stuart and I spent the day with Tony Quinn and Neil Lewis touring the very impressive new facilities at Queensland Raceway, as well as officially handing over their Motorsport Australia track licence,” Arocca said.

“In order to get that track licence, the venue has undergone significant improvements to its safety standards, including installing the appropriate safety barriers where required. The track now meets the relevant criteria for its licence and we are thrilled to welcome back Motorsport Australia events to this important venue.

“Tony, Neil and the entire team at Queensland Raceway deserve a lot of praise for what they have done and are planning for the venue, which will be a significant benefit to motorsport in Queensland.

“We can’t wait to see the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships at the venue in August as well, for what will be a grand return to Queensland.”

Queensland Raceway will be hosting an open day on 2 July where people will get an opportunity to view the new renovations for themselves.

The first official national event to be held will be the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships on 5-7 August.
