New look GT3 Cup Challenge arrives

Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia has revealed a refreshed brand, in preparation for next year’s season.

The one-make Porsche series will once again race exclusively on the Shannons Nationals calendar, which has become a staple category on the Nationals’ line up.

Next season will see the introduction of the first-generation Type 991 GT3 Cup car, which was exclusively used in Carrera Cup this season.

“GT3 Cup Challenge is set for a fantastic season in 2018,” Porsche Cars Australia Director of Marketing and Motor sport Toni Andreevski said.

“We expect to see a strong field of both the first generation Type 991 GT3 Cup race car and its predecessor, the second generation Type 997 GT3 Cup racer.”

The series will return to the Nationals with a fresh name, thanks to Michelin who will be the title sponsor and tyre supplier in 2018.

Also confirmed for 2018 is the Jim Richards Endurance Trophy, with the three endurance events to be confirmed shortly.

The opening round of Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge Australia will take place at The Bend Motorsport Park on 13-15 April, 2018.
