Nationals set for super 2018

Next year’s Shannons Nationals will pack plenty of excitement and competitive action, featuring an all-new schedule for 2018.

Six rounds will make up the new look calendar, competing on six of Australia’s best national circuits.

Shannons Nationals will also make history next year, with the category earning the right to host the first ever national motor sport event at The Bend Motorsport Park in April, Australia’s newest FIA and CAMS approved circuit.

“Next year is shaping up to be one of the best seasons of Shannons Nationals racing,” Shannons Nationals Director Michael Smith said.

“Shannons Nationals is going from strength to strength and we’re excited about what lies ahead at circuits around Australia from the world class, newly constructed Tailem Bend to old favourites like Phillip Island and Sydney Motorsport Park.

“We’ll also be returning to Sandown, Winton and Queensland Raceway next season and we’re anticipating plenty of action across a range of different categories.

“The future is bright for the CAMS national championships and series racing at Shannons Nationals’ rounds.”

Shannons Insurance will also return as the primary backer of the Shannons Nationals, as they mark more than a decade of support.

“We’re thrilled to continue to to back such an important event on the national motor sport calendar,” Shannons Insurance’s Paul Gates said.

“The Shannons Nationals are well supported and each and every year we’re seeing some great categories showcase their skills at some of the most exciting circuits in the world right here in Australia.

“We’re excited to continue work with everyone that makes the Nationals event a success, including those at CAMS.”

Following the season opener in South Australia at Tailem Bend, the Nationals will then travel to Victoria, visiting Sandown and Phillip Island, before heading north to Queensland Raceway in June.

Competitors will then race at Winton in early September before the final round at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Announcements regarding the categories racing at these rounds will be confirmed shortly.
