MARC Cars to run Invitational Class at Mount Panorama

The Australian-designed and manufactured MARC Cars will return to GT racing in Australia as Milldun Motorsport will support three entries at the opening round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS at Bathurst.

MARC Cars last ran as part of the field in 2019, but make a welcome return to the category at the Mountain during the Easter long weekend.

New models have been offered by MARC Cars Australia since this last appearance including the Gen II version taking inspiration from the Ford Mustang and the newly released GT, which is an all new design.

Milldun Motorsport has entered a Gen II for owner of MARC Cars Australia Geoff Taunton in addition to two Gen Is for Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS rookies Darren Currie and Grant ‘Axle’ Donaldson.

The trio are not new to Mount Panorama after competing in the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour earlier this year in a Mazda 3-shaped Gen I to win the Invitational Class.

It is expected the MARC Cars will be a presence during the entire Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia by AWS season.

The opening round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia by AWS season will be held as support to the Hi Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries on April 7-9.

All of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS action can be seen live and ad-break free on Stan Sport. Sign up now for a free seven-day trial stan.com.au/motorsport

QUOTES

Liam Dunn
Milldun Motorsport

“The category is suited to the demographic of our clients and it’s a great opportunity to race with quality cars and drivers at high-profile events,” said Dunn.

“The MARC Cars are a really good stepping stone for moving forward and furthering their racing or jumping straight into an outright GT car. It ticks all the boxes for everyone.

“Darren and ‘Axle’ both competed with Geoff at the Bathurst 12 Hour. Both are fairly new to circuit racing, ‘Axle’ has raced in all sorts of off road motorbike events and the pair are doing an outstanding job.

“Their intention is to do all the rounds, it’s not just a toe in the water. They want to commit to the series.

“Hopefully off the back of the three cars running at Bathurst, more MARCs will come and support the category.

“It’s inviting for clients of this sort of calibre to join.”
