Kick starting the Shannons Nationals season

This weekend will be the round of firsts for the Shannons Nationals.

Not only will it be the first ever motor sport event held at South Australia’s newest motor sport complex at The Bend Motorsport Park, but also the first Shannons Nationals round for 2018.

The event will be headlined by some of Australia’s best drivers and national motor racing championships and series, which will have the opportunity to open The Bend circuit on Friday.

Round 1 includes the popular CAMS Australian Endurance Championship, which has announced a strong contingent of drivers including Supercars drivers Shane van Gisbergen, Garth Tander and David Reynolds.

The circuit will also host the opening round of the booming Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge Australia, that is thriving from new blood in the series.

Returning to the Shannons Nationals calendar this season is the National Sports Sedan Series, with the category bringing a 30-car field for the event.

The re-branded Australian Prototype Series follows suit, with the series fielding several local drivers and nearly a 30-car field for their first 2018 round.

Radical Australia Cup will join the Shannons Nationals season opener for their second round of the season, as well as the popular Heritage Touring Cars and Group S Racing.

Sunday’s racing will also be available to watch on an improved live-stream onspeedseries.com.au, hosted this year by motor sport media guru, Greg Rust.

The Shannons Nationals season opener will run on 13-15 April at the highly-anticipated The Bend Motorsport Park.
