‘Holy Smoke’ BMW back for Sydney

Round 1 of the Australian Production Car Series saw the covers come off the Holy Smoke Racing BMW 1M, which will return for the third round next weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Driven by Anthony Soole in the A1 class, the team is ready for next weekend’s challenge, after what was a trying weekend at Bathurst in March.

“Bathurst was the first run of our newly built BMW 1M, and running a freshly built race car at one of the toughest tracks in the world is always going to be a challenge, and it didn’t disappoint!” Soole said.

“Considering we were down on power, we qualified quite well and although we had a few issues during the race, we finished, which was a great achievement for the team.”

Speaking ahead of the Sydney round, Soole mentioned he’ll be the sole driver, which sees the series running four one-hour races next weekend.

“I am hoping that we will have the car somewhat up to speed!” Soole said.

“Of course as a new car we still have a lot of testing to do, but we will get some valuable racing miles, which should speed up that process a bit.

“While the work with the car continues, we are feeling very positive and are looking forward to getting to Sydney Motorsport Park next week.”

The Australian Production Car Series will run their third round of the season at Round 4 of the Shannons Nationals at Sydney Motorsport Park, across 7-9 July.
