Fierce Racing will make their debut in the Australian Production Cars Series this year.
The team will enter the series with the Class A1 BMW 1M and the Fierce Racing Class B1 BMW135i with Scott Turner and and current Class C Bathurst 6 Hour Champion Rob Rubis at the helm.
Experienced APC campaigner Garry Mennell will oversee the entries, a decision which Turner believes will increase the team’s chances for a strong debut season
“Our Class B1 car has only been raced a handful of times and is currently being transformed into a race-winning weapon by Garry Mennell’s team at On Track Motorsport,” Turner said.
“Our plan is to present one of the most professional two-car teams in recent history, bringing in new sponsors to not only the series, but also the sport; all while chasing our ultimate goal of winning our respective class championships.
“The Fierce Racing motto is, ‘winning isn’t everything but wanting to win should be the only thing’, and that is what will be driving us throughout the season.”
Feirce Racing will first run both the BMW1M, previously owned by Muller Motorsport and the BMW135i in the 2018 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst Six Hour before moving onto Round 1 of the 2018 APC season on the Shannons National card at Sandown.
“Our focus will shift to the season very shortly after our pre-season round at Bathurst which should be a good indicator as to where we will sit in the 2018 APC,” Scott added.
“We feel very confident that our little chariot should be well suited to the long straights of Sandown as long as we can get the kerb bump and power down sorted early in the 135i.
“We are looking forward to the challenge and to having two punters in the race for a shot at those podiums; we are extremely excited.”
Fierce Racing Co-director Urs Muller believes the series is a good opportunity for the team’s debut.
“The APC provides a professional mid-level series with highly-competitive racing on a reasonable budget, accompanied by media coverage to provide our supporting sponsors with a return on their investment,” Muller said.
“Most importantly, it provides a level playing field that caters for younger, upcoming drivers and those in their later years who are still looking to competitive racing for that buzz and excitement without the ‘whole life’ commitment required by other motorsport categories.”
Round 1 of the 2018 Australian Production Cars will kick off at the Shannons Nationals’ second round of the year at Sandown Raceway on 11-13 May 2018.
