Prizes included in the CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship will see several young drivers take part in a variety of test days, setting the drivers up for their next season of racing.
After wrapping up the 2018 Championship in New Zealand, Jayden Ojeda will now prepare for a test day in a Supercar that’ll see him behind the wheel of a Brad Jones Racing Supercar in December.
Ojeda was also the winner of a two-round shootout (highest points from Sydney and Auckland) and will return to New Zealand later this year for a test drive in the Castrol Toyota Racing Series.
“To get to head back to New Zealand and try my hand at the Toyota TRS will be an amazing experience, I can tell already the people at Toyota have really put together an amazing series and car, so I’m just ecstatic to give one of their cars a whirl,” Ojeda said.
“December is going to be a big month for me and I can’t wait to drive a Supercar… it’s what I grew up watching and what inspired me to get into motor sport.
“Brad [Jones] is a little bit of an icon within Australian motor sport and has been in the game a long time.
“It’s a little bit of a dream to drive one.”
Championship runner-up Ryan Suhle and third for the season Aaron Love were handpicked by Porsche team Volante Rosso to take part in a test day with their Porsche Carrera Cup cars.
“I think it’s going to be cool to sample the next level up with a Carrera Cup test and come back down and run GT3 Cup Challenge next year,” Suhle said.
“Any time in a faster car than what you’re doing is important.”
Burson Auto Parts Rookie of the Year Lochie Hughes’ standout season was rewarded with a free F4 car lease for 2019, to help progress the rookie’s career.
Details of the 2019 CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship along with CAMS Rising Star applications will be announced in the coming weeks.
