Bowe latest name to sign up for 6 Hour

The 2022 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour is beginning to take shape with 70 crews entered in the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships’ second round.

A number of a high profile racers have signed on to the event, including Marcos Ambrose and Will Davison, with one of the most recent entries in the popular endurance race at the famous Mount Panorama being Australian Motorsport Hall of Famer, John Bowe.

A legend within Ford’s Australian motorsport history, Bowe will be contesting the 6 Hour alongside Aaron McGill in the Ranger Lifting FG Falcon GT.

Bowe enters the race as one of most prolific drivers in Australian history having won multiple national titles across a range of categories, including two Australian Drivers’ Championships and the Australian Touring Car Championship (now Supercars) in 1995.

More recently, Bowe has enjoyed a plethora of success in the Gulf Western Oils Touring Car Masters, where he has won six titles, including last year’s outright title, and was the first ever to reach 100 race wins in the category.

With Ranger Lifting having grown in stature since last year, the two-time Bathurst 1000 winner was looking forward to racing with the team and McGill for this year’s 6 Hour.

“I have spent most of my life in the Ford world and have a special attachment to the Ford GT Falcon,” Bowe said.

“So, when Steve asked me to race, I had no hesitation. This will be my 36th year racing at Bathurst and it’s a terrific race- all sorts of cars competing over the weekend makes it very exciting.”

In the wake of Bowe joining the team, McGill was excited to have Bowe driving alongside him as he looks to claim some silverware.

“I’ve had many chances to climb that balcony at Bathurst, but this time I know we have the people and the car,” McGill added.

“Ranger has invested heavily into this long-term project and JB and I intend to do all we can to deliver for the Ranger Lifting and its clients.”
