Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour
The stage is officially set for the 2022 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour with qualifying run and the grid set.
Claiming pole position was Thomas Sargent and Cameron Hill as the former guided the Tegra Australia BMW M2 Competition to a lap time of 2:24.2369.
Starting the popular six-hour race alongside them will be the Btuned Euro Specialist BMW M4 piloted by David Russell, Karl Begg and Nash Morris – Russell more than one second behind on the time sheets in qualifying.
Rounding out the top three is the first of the Repco Supercars Championship stars in Tim Slade – the South Australia sharing the Car Mods Australia BMW M3 with Brad Carr.
Remarkably, the top nine teams in qualifying were all behind the wheel of BMWs. The highest non-BMW was the RAM / GWR Mercedes of Dylan O’Keeffe, Mike Sheargold and Ollie Shannon.
The six-hour race begins at 11am AEST tomorrow morning.

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series
The Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series saw records broken and plenty of action.
In qualifying, pole sitter Aaron Cameron led a charge of drivers to break the current TCR lap record – Cameron and Jordan Cox posting sub 2:13 laps and five other drivers going sub 2:14.
While Cox was given a three-place grid penalty post-qualifying, when it came to the first race, his day went from bad to worse, as he was forced to retire.
Cameron on the other hand led from start to finish in a dominant performance, Ben Bargwanna and Dylan O’Keefe finishing second and third respectively and securing a Peugeot podium lockout in the top three.
The series delivered again in the afternoon as Bailey Sweeny won the reverse-grid race.
Despite the teenager eventually coming away with an 11 second win; up until he produced an impressive pass on leader Michael Caruso, it was quite an even affair with anyone capable of taking out the win.
Finishing second behind the teenager was James Moffat, who made up four positions to beat Josh Buchan to the line by just four tenths.
Turtlewax Trans Am Series
As always, the Turtlewax Trans Am Series put on a show for the crowd with two races throughout the day.
And once again it was Tim Brook and Nathan Herne in the spotlight as the duo were constantly at the front – however the day belonged to Herne who won both outings.
Starting behind Brook in race one, the reigning champion managed to work his way past him midway through and take out the win with Ben Grice finishing in third.
For the second race, it was Herne who led from start to finish, despite having to defend his position after a safety car restart.
The current points leader made it home first with a three seconds between him and Brook, while Grice went off track a little bit earlier, opening the door for Owen Kelly to sneak into third.
MRF Tyres Australian Pulsar Racing Association
The only category of the weekend to hold all three of its races was the one-make MRF Tyres Australian Pulsar Racing Association, which saw plenty of drama.
However, navigating their way through the chaos to secure the overall victory after the category’s three races was Harry Inwood.
Having finished second behind only Josh Craig in the first race of the day, Inwood managed to take advantage of Craig’s error in the second race and slot into first.
From then on, he remained in the lead and won both races two and three.
Despite finishing fifth in the second race, Craig managed to work his way back into the contest to finish second in the finale – securing a runner-up round placing.
Rounding out the podium for the round was Daniel Smith thanks to his two podiums.
Historic Touring Cars
A mixed day for the old-school category as the 38-cars entered got to enjoy one race in the morning before a non-event was called later in the afternoon.
The first race of the day saw Aldo De Paoli and Brad Tilley enjoy a thrilling battle despite the latter having held a four-second lead midway through the race.
De Paoli was able to chip away at the lead though and eventually caught up to the Ford Mustang on the last lap before muscling his way past and steering the Chev Camaro to the victory.
Unfortunately the second race of the day was red flagged before there were enough laps completed, meaning the race was declared and no winner or points awarded.
HQ Holdens
From one classic category to another, there were two races run today and two different winners as Brett Osborn enjoyed top honours in race one and Andrew Magilton in race two.
However it was Magilton who ended the day in the best position as he finished second in race one, while Osborn finished third in the second race.
Reaching the chequered flag in between the two race winners for the second outing was South Australian Joel Henirich, who was locked in a tight battle with Queenslander Brett Madden in the first race.
While Madden ended up dropping to 18th in the second race, there were quite a few others who finished towards the top in both races including Benjamen Simpson, Philip Ashlin and Darren Crouch.
The action resumes tomorrow with the Historic Touring Cars to get proceedings underway at 7:30am AEST.
