Bargwanna wins inaugural virtual TCR Australia series

The inaugural carsales TCR Australia SimRacing Series has come to a close with Ben Bargwanna crowned as champion after winning the season finale in Macau.

Heading into the round as series leader, Bargwanna was a man on a mission as he steered his Burson Auto Parts Peugeot 308 TCR to pole position before comfortably converting it to a race one victory.

The race win ensured Bargwanna claimed the series over fellow title contender Dylan O’Keefe, who was involved in an incident with Will Brown early in the opening race, which all but ended his title aspirations.

“That was awesome. It has been an awesome series and to finish it that way with a win is even better,” Bargwanna said post-race.

“It has been a good year, announcing that I’m doing the TCR Australia Series in real life, and winning this just tops it all off. I can’t wait to get into the real car and get into the racing.”

Rounding out the podium behind the series winner in the round’s first race was New Zealander Brock Timperley, who picked up his best result for the year and the third placed Luke King.

In the round’s reverse grid race, Rowan Shepherd took away his first win of the series after Tony D’Alberto suffered technical issues in the final stages, while King just managed to beat Bargwanna for the runner-up position.
