Another win for Haber in ARG virtual series

Harley Haber has extended his lead at the top of the carsales ARG eSport Cup series after picking up a race win and a top-five finish during the series’seventh round at the New South Wales based Oran Park.

Behind the wheel of a V8 touring car, Haber put on a dominant display to open up the round with pole position before comfortably cruising to a nine-second race one victory.

Despite being involved in an opening lap clash with Jordan Cox, British Touring Car star Ash Sutton recovered nicely to finish in second place ahead of Garth Tander, Cox and James Golding.

While Haber’s biggest threat came through a brief challenge from Tander, he was unstoppable throughout the race and the youngster credited his preparation for his performance.

“I couldn’t be happier with that, pole and the race win,” Haber said post-race one.

“It’s as ideal as it gets.

“We’re putting in the effort, and effort equals results. We’ve got a testing programme that we run through and we’re doing the best that we can.”

Starting the second reverse grid race from the back of the grid, Haber worked his way through the field to get to fifth, before overtaking Chelsea Angelo on the final lap after she ran out of fuel.

Taking out the reverse grid race was wildcard entry Lachlan Mineeff after the Formula Ford driver claimed the lead on the second lap from Declan Fraser and held onto it for the rest of the race.

Finishing three and half seconds behind Mineeff was another special guest, in multiple international TCR title winner Josh Files, while New Zealand teenager Jaden Ransley rounded out the podium ahead of Haber and Angelo.

A combination between Ransley’s third place and Nathan Herne having an average night saw the Kiwi cement second place on the outright standings ahead of Dylan O’Keefe and Sutton, who dropped to 42nd in the second race due to mechanical issues.

The carsales ARG eSport Cup will head to Silverstone for its eighth round on Thursday night with drivers to be racing in Formula 3 cars.
