AFO to grow on Shannons SpeedSeries in 2024

Australian Formula Open (AFO) will feature on the Shannons Speedseries three times in 2024, following the confirmation of its upcoming year’s schedule.

The series has become the home of a variety of open wheel race cars including Formula 3 and Formula 4, while also providing competitive track time for owners and teams of TRS FT50, Formula Toyota, Formula Renault, Formula Atlantic and other junior open wheel categories.

The category has confirmed a record-breaking seven round calendar, kicking off with Shannons SpeedSeries Sandown round in February next year.

The series will then start tracking north with a round at Winton Motor Raceway, before competing at a state-run event at Sydney Motorsport Park.

It will then feature in a special appearance at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park as part of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia round , before returning to Shannons SpeedSeries for Queensland Raceway in July.

The third and final appearance will be at Sydney Motorsport Park in October, which will act as the penultimate round of its season.

The season finale will once again take place at the renowned Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, headlining the popular ‘Island Magic’ event.

AFO Founder, Tim Macrow looked forward to partaking in a new and improved calendar for 2024.

“AFO is really pleased to secure a broadcast package that will see every round of 2024 either on free-to-air TV or streamed online so that means no one misses out on watching our races,” Macrow said.

“There’s been a lot of work behind the scenes this year to build the foundations of this unique class structure, supporting all types of open wheelers that we know want to race in Australia, and to have such a strong mix of national events as well helps the category move forward stronger than ever next year.”
