Woods to make big step into GT4

Monochrome GT4 Australia will welcome a new driver for its first season as a standalone series, with Zoe Woods confirming her entry ahead of the 2024 season.

Behind the wheel of the TekworkX Motorsport prepared Porsche Cayman 718 GT4, Woods will make the step up into the category after two years competing at a national level.

Making her national debut in Australian Production Cars in 2022, Woods moved to the popular Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 Series last year, with both categories giving her valuable experience at all of Australia’s major racetracks.

The car itself is a relatively new chassis acquired by TekworkX for its first foray into GT4 racing having had a wealth of experience in the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup and Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge.

With the car due to arrive in the country later this month, Woods will enjoy some important test days before making her debut in the category next month at the Shannons SpeedSeries’ Race Sandown.

“I couldn’t be any more excited to be joining the Monochrome GT4 Australia series in 2024,” Woods said.

“For me it was sitting down with Paul (Morris) who has been such a fantastic mentor to me, we chatted about my next steps in motorsport and GT4 was what we came up with.

“I will still be doing Toyota 86 but with it starting a bit later in the year, I’ll be able to get some races under my belt before round one. The more seat time I get will benefit me.

“To be driving a Porsche with TekworkX is fantastic as the team run a lot of Porsches in Carrera Cup and Sprint Challenge, and the crew in the workshop have a great understanding of how they work. I was lucky enough to test a McLaren at Queensland Raceway only a month ago, and if the Porsche is anything like that, then I can’t wait.”

Monochrome GT4 Australia will be one of five categories to feature at next month’s Race Sandown, with tickets to the event now available for purchase via www.motorsporttickets.com.au.

Those unable to make it to Race Sandown will be able to watch Saturday and Sunday’s action unfold live and free via 7plus and 7mate.

The opening round of the 2024 Monochrome GT4 Australia season forms part of the Shannons SpeedSeries’ Race Sandown at Sandown International Raceway on 9-11 February.
