David Wall has claimed his maiden Porsche Carrera Cup Australia series title on the streets of Gold Coast.
The 34-year-old sealed the 20 point victory, dedicating the series win to his late father, Des Wall.
“It’s emotional for a lot of different reasons… I lost my father five years ago and I’ve been looking for something to dedicate to him, this is all his,” Wall said.
“If he was here I’m sure he’d be pumped.
“It’s been a lot of years trying and a lot of water has passed under the bridge. It’s unbelievable and I’m very thankful [for] the opportunity given… it’s great to be standing here as the champion for the year.”
Wall battled right to the final race of the season with Andre Heimgartner, who finished runner-up for the season ahead of Alex Davison in third.
Meanwhile, Jaxon Evans powered to his second overall round win of the 2017 season, with victories in two of the three weekend races, while Dean Cook scored his maiden win in the TAG Heuer Carrera Challenge class on the Gold Coast.
Stephen Grove was officially crowned TAG Heuer Carrera Challenge winner, with Marc Cini finishing second while Sam Shahin climbed to third in class at the end of the season.
