The CAMS Australian GT Championship will welcome back nine GT Trophy Class competitors to its third round in the upcoming Shannons Nationals at Sandown Raceway.
The third round of the championship follows thrilling races at the Formula 1 2018 Rolex Australian Grand Prix and the first official race meeting at South Australia’s The Bend Motorsport Park in April.
The GT sprint round is the second for the year and will consist of two 20-minute practice sessions, two 20-minute qualifying sessions and three 40-minutes races.
Headlining the Trophy Class is class leader Nick Kelly in the Audi R8 LMS Ultra, as well as fellow Audi drivers Rio Nugara (EAT Furniture) and Matthew Stoupas (Kentucky Fried Chicken).
Behind the wheel of the Motorsport Leasing/RaceRamps Porsche 911 GT3-R, second placed John Morriss will be using the race to close down on Kelly’s lead.
Joseph Ensabella of Aaron Laboratories and Seidler Group’s Chris and Luke Seidler will also steer Porsches at the round.
Both Jan Jinadasa of JJA Consulting Group in the Lamborghini Gallardo and Dave Stevens’ Ferrari 458 GT3 are representing the two iconic Italian brands.
Rounding out the nine-car Trophy Class list is the only non-European car in the field, the popular American Chevrolet Camaro GT3 of Dale Paterson.
The Trophy class competitors have been welcomed to all Australian GT Championship sprint format events in 2018, in addition to the class’ standalone events at Winton and Phillip Island.
The third round of the CAMS Australian GT Championship will take place as part of the Shannons Nationals at Sandown Raceway on 11 -13 May.
