The Shannons SpeedSeries will welcome back the National Trans Am Cup Series in 2026 with the popular category to race at the season-ending LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Sandown at the end of October.
A regular feature of the Shannons SpeedSeries over the years, Trans Am featured in a jam-packed program at Sandown last year for the fourth event of the season.
The addition of Sandown finalises the seven-round calendar for the series’ 2026 season, which will see off this year’s campaign with a double header at Victoria’s Home of Horsepower as a result of Supercars visiting the circuit the following week.
SRO Motorsports Australia Head of Events and Commercial, Adrian Coppin, was pleased to have Trans Am confirmed for a Shannons SpeedSeries appearance this year.
“It’s fantastic to have the Trans Am Series confirmed to join the Shannons SpeedSeries at Sandown Raceway later this year as it’s a fan favourite and always puts on an entertaining show,” Coppin said.
“Trans Am has long had a place on the Shannons SpeedSeries, so it’s fantastic that it remains a part of the family and will add good quality racing to a huge final round of the 2026 season.”
The series is regarded as one of Australian motorsport’s most popular racing categories, featuring V8-powered Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros and Dodge Challengers.
LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Sandown takes place at Sandown International Raceway on 30 October – 1 November.
