Aaron Seton, son of Supercars great Glen Seton, has confirmed his return to the Jacuzzi Spas Australian Production Cars as part of the Shannons Nationals in Ipswich this weekend.
Seton, who made his category debut in 2014 at just 15-years-old, last took part in the category in 2016 when he finished 12th overall after competing in two of the four events, his best result coming in the first round at Phillip Island driving a Mitsubishi Evo 10.
Taking a break from the category last year, the 19-year-old competed in a variety of national and state events including TA2 Muscle Cars and the iconic Bathurst 12 Hour.
Seton’s return will see him behind the wheel of the #11 FEDC Contracting Ford Falcon GT alongside Mick Benton in the B1 class, after regular co-driver Hadrian Morral was unable to commit.
“I met Mick when I was racing with MARC Cars Australia at the Bathurst 12 Hour, driving with him in the 2017 race,” Seton said.
“We became friends through that and with Hadrian unfortunately not able to make it, Mick asked me if I could drive with him and of course I jumped at the opportunity.
“The Falcon will definitely be different to what I have raced in the series before, but I am looking forward to the challenge. I have driven it at Queensland Raceway a few times now and it is really fun to drive.
“I will have to make sure I look after the tyres and the brakes on the weekend, it should be great fun and I am really looking forward to spending some more time in the car.
“I am definitely keen to get back into the national production cars category, and to combining with another driver again – I really enjoy the endurance formats and driving with Mick especially is good fun.
“The night race should be interesting in particular – it is good to have a change from the usual format and it is good fun out there at night.”
Benton currently leads the B1 class and sits 15th outright after a solid display in the first round at Sandown Raceway in May.
The second round of the 2018 Jacuzzi Spas Australian Production Cars will be held at Queensland Raceway on 28 – 29 July with two 300 kilometre races held across the weekend, including the iconic Fight in the Night on Saturday evening.
