SRO Motorsports Australia can confirm Richard Craill will no longer be able to be part of the Shannons SpeedSeries coverage after obtaining the role of lead commentator for Supercars.
A longtime caller of the Shannons SpeedSeries, the highly respected Craill will attend the remaining three rounds of the season – offering support to the rest of the team.
SRO Motorsports Australia CEO Ben McMellan thanked Craill for his service to the Shannons SpeedSeries.
“With Richard’s appointment as the lead commentator for Supercars, unfortunately it means he will no longer be able to have an on-air role at Shannons SpeedSeries events moving forward.
“Richard has been the voice of GT racing in Australia and the Shannons SpeedSeries for many years, making a remarkable contribution through its various iterations over the past two decades.
“While Richard’s departure is a significant loss for the Shannons SpeedSeries, it is also an exciting opportunity for him and a well-deserved recognition of his talent.
“On behalf of everyone involved with the Shannons SpeedSeries, I would like to thank Richard for his loyal service over the years and wish him every success in this exciting new chapter with Supercars.
“The on-air team for the upcoming LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Darwin will be announced in the coming week as we prepare for our historic debut at Hidden Valley Raceway.”
The 2026 Shannons SpeedSeries’ LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Darwin takes place at Hidden Valley Raceway on 24-26 July, with the full commentary team to be announced in the coming week.
