Shannons SpeedSeries turns it on during Day 2 at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park

There was plenty of excitement and action as qualifying turned into racing at the penultimate round of the Shannons SpeedSeries hosted at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park.

Headlined by a pair of qualifying sessions and the opening race for GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS, Saturday at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park provided a packed schedule of nearly 10 hours of track action.

GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS

It was a second win of the season for ACM Finance/Team BRM’s Alex Peroni and Mark Rosser following a dominant performance in their Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II.

It was an important win for the duo, particularly for Rosser on home turf at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park.

Championship leaders Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte further extended their advantage after finishing second in their Arise Racing GT Ferrari 296 GT3.

Broc Feeney pushed hard to steal second after leaving the pits at the start of his stint, but had to settle for third partnering Brad Schumacher in the Kelso Electrical/Team MPC Audi.

Brothers James and Theo Koundouris took their first Am Class win of the season in the Supabarn Supermarkets/Tigani Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

Renee Gracie is close to scoring the Am Class title after scoring second in the OnlyFans/Team MPC Audi.

Race 2 for GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS is scheduled for 2:10pm ACST/2:40pm AEST and for those in attendance, a grid walk will precede the event.

Monochrome GT4 Australia

Method Motorsport duo Tom Hayman and Max Geoghegan solidified their Silver Cup lead by greeting the flag in Race 1.

Geoghegan made a decisive pass on George Miedecke during the second half of the race to deliver another victory for the Chaz Mostert-led team.

Miedecke was second in the Miedecke Motorsport with Lubrimaxx Ford Mustang GT4 alongside Rylan Gray, while third was the JGI Triple Eight Race Engineering Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Jarrod Hughes and Summer Rintoule.

Aaron Cameron and Ryan Hansford secured the win in Silver-Am Cup sharing the Multispares Racing Ford Mustang GT4. Zac Soutar led the way for much of the race in the Tufflift Racing TSM McLaren, but lapped traffic delayed co-driver Glenn Nirwan dropping the pair to second.

Gomersall Motorsport’s Aaron Seton and Jason Gomersall did their Silver-Am Cup title aspirations no harm in third driving a Ford Mustang GT4.

Am Cup was won by Randall Racing’s Jacob Lawrence in his BMW M4 GT4 G82 from Shane Smollen in his Method Motorsport Porsche from teammates Nathan Callaghan and Chris Lillis.

The second race for Monochrome GT4 Australia will commence at 11:45am ACST/12:15pm AEST and will feature a grid walk beforehand.

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge

Sonic Motor Racing Services driver Jake Santalucia enjoyed a dream day in his title pursuit by scoring two wins from as many starts.

Santalucia crossed the line second in Race 2 to start the day, but title rival Lockie Bloxsom was penalised, elevating the Team Sonic Porsche to the top spot.

Lead Am driver Ramu Farrell was third for Jones Motorsport ahead of Ashley Seward Motorsport’s James Lodge and the DNA Autosport entry of Ryan Casha.

Next up was the 45-minute mini enduro where Sanatlucia greeted the chequered flag ahead of McElrea Racing driver Kamal Mrad and Lodge.

Farrell remained the leader in Am Class ahead of Lachlan Harburg and Jacque Jarjo.

This completes the penultimate round of Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge.

Ferrari Challenge Australasia

The penultimate day of action for the inaugural Ferrari Challenge Australasia season witnessed two titles decided.

Enzo Cheng in Coppa Shell and Michel Stephan in Trofeo Pirelli 488 wrapped up their respective titles after scoring race wins in the opening encounter.

Cheng led the way outright as well to emphasise his dominant form, with Aemel Nordin and Masahiro Taguchi rounding out the Coppa Shell podium.

Driving the previous generation 488, Stephan took the win from debutant Paul Brockbank and Japanese driver Baby Kei.

The Trofeo Pirelli title is still up for grabs although it’s advantage Antoine Gittany after he scored the race victory from Cameron Campbell and his key rival Jim Pollicina.

First Focus Radical Cup Australia

It was a dramatic opening race in First Focus Radical Cup Australia following contact between title rivals Cooper Cutts and Peter Paddon.

Cutts won the race from Ruairidh Avern, with Paddon recovering back to third by the end of the 50-minute battle.

Zig Fuhrmeister took the Am Class win from Ibby Hadeed by a little more than a second.

The final race for First Focus Radical Cup Australia at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park is due to begin at 9:40am ACST/10:10 AEST.
