Shannons SpeedSeries ready for penultimate round in Sydney

Descending on Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend, Shannons SpeedSeries is ready to host seven categories across two jam-packed nights.

Track action for ColorSpec Race Sydney will begin with Giti Australian Formula Open practice on Friday morning at 9:05am and finishing off the first day will be with Monochrome GT4 Australia Series with their two qualifying sessions running into the night, commencing at 7:40pm.

The Monochrome GT4 Australia Series will welcome its largest field of the season to Sydney, the 22-car field expanding for the penultimate round of the season.

After Friday’s qualifying under lights, the category will line up for two, hour-long races on both Saturday and Sunday.

ColorSpec Race Sydney’s feature of the weekend will be a special three-hour endurance race for Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS under the Sydney Motorsport Park lights on Saturday night, starting at 6:45pm.

GT World Challenge will also be introducing a Super Pole Shoot Out which will decide the grid before the main race on Saturday night. Enduro titles will also be awarded for GT competitors this weekend.

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia will also decide their Pro, Junior and Enduro Cup titles for 2024 at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend, with Oscar Targett of Grove Racing and Team Porsche New Zealand’s Brock Gilchrist fighting out for top spot in the Pro class.

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge will begin the racing action for the weekend with Race 1 on Friday at 6:55pm. Saturday will then see competitors duke it out for the Enduro Cup in an early 45-minute Race before jumping into their final race of the season in Race 3 to decide who will take the 2024 titles.

The final race for Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge will be available live and free on 7plus and 7mate/7two from 2pm AEDT.

First Focus Radical Cup Australia and Meguiar’s Australian Production Cars will adopt the same schedule at ColorSpec Race Sydney, with two races for both categories on Saturday and Sunday.

The Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series will take on their usual schedule of qualifying and one race on Saturday, with the remaining two races on Sunday.

A free grid walk will be available to all fans on Saturday night ahead of Fanatec GT World Challenge’s 3-hour endurance race with no special pass required. Entry is all included with General Admission tickets, so attendees can be sure to take advantage to see the competitors and cars up close.

Free autograph signing sessions will also take place on Saturday at 1pm and Sunday at 1:45pm near the Shannons SpeedSeries stage, behind Pit Garage 49. 

Fans can also enjoy free access to ColorSpec Race Sydney on Friday to enjoy practice, qualifying and race action taking place.

Live broadcast of the weekend will be hosted by Seven Network for those who can’t make it to the event, live and free on 7plus and 7mate/7two on Saturday from 2-10pm and Sunday from 10am-5:15pm AEDT – check your local guides.

Tickford Supercars driver Thomas Randle will join Greg Rust, Chris Stubbs, Richard Craill, Matt Naulty, James Baldwin, and Darren Smith to host the action.

The sixth round of the 2024 Shannons SpeedSeries season, ColourSpec Race Sydney, will take place at Sydney Motorsport Park on 18-20 October.
