Shannons receives funding boost

The NSW State Government has thrown its support behind the Shannons Nationals final round at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.

As part of the NSW Office of Sport’s Sport Development Grant Program, the CAMS National Racing Championships, commonly known as the Shannons Nationals, will receive $50,000 to help ensure a successful event to be held in western Sydney on 21-23 September.

CAMS CEO Eugene Arocca said the grant was a boost for both fans and competitors alike.

“We want this round to showcase the best of what NSW motor sport has to offer and we are looking at ways to incorporate local clubs into the event to show off our thriving grassroots motor sport community, as well as hosting some exciting racing on track across a range of national championships and series,” Arocca said.

“Fans from around Australia will be able to watch this event and all rounds of the Shannons Nationals through our improved live stream in 2018 and those fortunate enough to be able to attend the event can look forward to an exciting weekend.

“We are extremely grateful to the NSW Government for its support of this event and know that we are in for an action packed final round.”

A large number of categories are taking part in the round, including Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge Australia, Australian Production Car Series, CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship, Aussie Racing Cars, Radical Australia Cup, Australian Prototype Series presented by Hot Wheels and the Veloce Racing Association.
