Dream Racing Australia’s Jackson Rice could once again become a regular feature in the National Trans Am Series after a successful return to the category at the Hi-Tec Oils Race Winton.
The Victorian returned to the grid after a stint with the team in 2022 before Tyler Everingham’s move to the Racing Academy opened the door for a return.
After a weekend best fourth place finish in race one at Winton Motor Raceway, the 20-year-old endured another two top 10 finishes across the weekend to prove he truly belongs amongst some of the series’ best drivers.
At the time, Rice was unsure of how many rounds he would compete in but was confident he would heavily benefit from more appearances in the category.
“I think it was good at Winton,” Rice said.
“It was great for myself personally and for the team to show we can enter Trans Am competently as well as be competitive.
“I think Nash (Morris) put it perfectly, these blokes in Trans Am race for sheep stations, so it’s really good to develop your skills elsewhere, but these guys play hardball.”
Rounds at Queensland Raceway, Sandown and Bathurst International have been earmarked for potential appearances this season, with Rice targeting a return to the series on a full-time basis in 2024.
The next round of the National Trans Am Series will be with the Shannons SpeedSeries at Queensland Raceway on 11-13 August.
