Race action begins at the Shannons SpeedSeries

Business time began at Phillip Island as Day 2 of the 2025 Shannons SpeedSeries hosted qualifying and the first races for many of the categories this season.

In a rapid day of action, GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS, Monochrome GT4 Australia, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge and First Focus Radical Australia Cup.

GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS

Ferrari and Arise Racing GT replicated its race winning performance from last year, but in 2025 it was Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte scoring a hard-fought victory from pole.

Evans had to hold off the Realta/Tigani Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Jayden Ojeda during the closing stages in what proved the perfect introduction to the season at Phillip Island.

Behind the Realta/Tigani Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Ojeda and Paul Lucchitti was the Dayle ITM Team MPC Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II of New Zealand pair Brendan Leitch and Tim Miles.

Despite a spin early in the race, Black Wolf Motorsport’s Shane Woodman and Ben Schoots took the Am Cup win in their Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

Monochrome GT4 Australia

Method Motorsport returned to Monochrome GT4 Australia on a winning note courtesy of its defending Silver Cup title winner Tom Hayman and new co-driver Max Geoghegan.

A penalty for the Nippy’s Audi R8 LMS GT4 shared by Blake Purdie and Daniel Price was penalised 10s for a CPS infringement, but Geoghegan passed the entry late in the race to solidify its win.

The Audi pair remained in second, while Miedecke Motorsport/Lubrimaxx’s George Miedecke endured a scary moment entering the front straight when his Ford Mustang GT4 went wide and entered the gravel trap at the final corner nudging the tyre wall before returning to the track.

Miedecke and co-driver Rylan Gray recovered to finish third in Silver Cup.

Aaron Seton and Jason Gomersall won Silver-Am in the Gomersall Motorsport Ford Mustang GT4, while Jacob Lawrence made the best start to defending the Am Cup title by securing the win in the opening race.

Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia

Antoine Gittany converted pole to the opening race victory at Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia in his 296.

Gittany led the way in the opening race from Cameron Campbell and Enzo Cheng as 4s separated the trio crossing the line.

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge

Willie Exton took a win for the New Zealanders in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, but if it wasn’t for a faux pas by Jake Santalucia the race may have been decided in the Sonic Motor Racing Services driver’s favour.

Santalucia won the start and led until running wide at Hayshed and spearing off the track leaving Exton to take the win ahead of Tyler Greenbury, with Lockie Bloxsom rounding out the podium.

Lachlan Harburg secured the Am Class honours.

Focus First Radical Australia Cup

Peter Paddon dominated proceedings in Focus First Radical Australia Cup by converting pole to victory.

Cooper Cutts took second ahead of Bryce Moore, with Bradley Russell winning the Am Class honours in fifth outright.

Track action begins for the final day of the Shannons SpeedSeries at Phillip Island at 9:05am AEST.
