A $2000 prize is up for grabs as Motorcraft Mustang Cup Australia enters its penultimate round at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Series promoter Driving Solutions has upped the ante ahead of the Sydney event by offering a $2000 prize for any driver to secure both Ford Insure Pole Positions.
In addition to the $1000 prize awarded for Pole Position courtesy of Ford Insure, a total prize pool of $4000 is on the line for the Sydney round.
Fittingly, the Driving Solutions prize will be awarded at a venue the driving and event services company has been based since it was founded by James Stewart in 2002.
Stewart and his Driving Solutions team are also the category managers of the Motorcraft Mustang Cup Australia.
Many contenders are ready to take the $2000 prize led by current series leader Josh Anderson, who achieved a Ford Insure Pole Position clean-sweep at Queensland Raceway.
Anderson’s title rivals Joe Fawcett and Jack Perkins have also won Ford Insure Pole Position cheques this season, but the lead trio will face a strong field in Sydney.
Future stars Brock Stinson, Oli Wickham, Matt Kiss and Imogen Radburn are all worthy of snatching the $2000 prize, while Josh Trappett will not only have his regular rivals to contend with, but younger brother Pat will make his debut in a second Rivers Insurance/RM Race Cars Ford Mustang Dark Horse R.
Also notable in the entry list is the season’s first split-driver team. Ford junior driver Cam McLeod will share a Dark Horse R with Monochrome GT4 Australia regular Jack Wallis, with McLeod to compete in the Johnson Cup event on Saturday, while Wallis will contest the Ambrose Cup component on Sunday.
Brock Giblin will also return to bolster a competitive field after missing Darwin.
The Dark Horse Legends fight is wide open due to Keith Kassulke being absent from this round. John Goodacre has been impressive since joining the series at The Bend and can overtake Kassulke at the top of the Dark Horse Legends standings in Sydney.
Joining Goodacre in the Dark Horse Legends class is regular Ben Dunn and debutant Ben Kavich in the eye-catching Team Thryv Race For A Cure entry.
Motorcraft Mustang Cup Australia will contest two 40-minute races using the Gardner Grand Prix layout at Sydney Motorsport Park as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries on September
