Aussie Racing Cars (ARC) will return to the Shannons Nationals this month for the first time in more than a decade.
Fresh from their most recent appearance at The Bend Motorsport Park in August, a full grid expected to take part in the series’ return to the Nationals.
Category manager Brad Ward believed it was an exciting opportunity to be part of the Shannons Nationals’ final round.
“We are really looking forward to joining the Nationals,” Ward said.
“We may have done a Nationals Rounds more than 10 or 15 years ago but not recently as we have been involved with Supercars.
“This Nationals at Sydney Motor Sport Park will be a big event with seven categories so we’re really keen to be part of it.”
The Shannons Nationals will host the category’s sixth round for 2018, which will also act as the penultimate round for the series, after race meetings at some of Australia’s premier circuits throughout the year.
Starting their season at the 60th anniversary of Baskerville Raceway in a special event, ARC then spent their next four rounds with Supercars in Phillip Island, Winton, Ipswich and most recently at The Bend.
ARC’s appearance at Sydney Motorsport Park will be also the first repeat circuit from last year’s calendar, highlighting the variety of tracks the category competes on.
After five rounds in 2018, Kyle Ensbey is leading the standings after starting the season off with two consecutive podium finishes and an outright win. Behind Ensbey are Joel Heinrich and Kel Treseder.
Following this month’s Nationals, ARC will re-join Supercars in Gold Coast in October for its final round of 2018.
The Shannons Nationals at Sydney Motorsport Park will take place on 21-23 September with live coverage of Sunday’s sessions available live and free at speedseries.com.au.
