Round Three of Monochrome GT4 Australia will see a shift to endurance mode as a three hour race headlines the event, with competitors bringing in top drivers.
A three hour endurance event will close out the round at EVENTelec Race Queensland as co-drivers the likes of Aaron Seton and Nash Morris have been drafted in for the occasion.
Courtesy of category sponsor Mark Cotterell Master Jeweller, the Silver Cup winners of the three hour endurance event will win the BRM V6 watch.
Heading into this round, Method Motorsport is the form team through not only its two McLaren Artura GT4s, but reigning series winner Shane Smollen’s Pro-Am leading Porsche Cayman 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS shared with Lachlan Mineeff.
Enjoying a podium lockout at Race Tailem Bend, Method Motorsport’s Marcos Flack and Tom Hayman lead the way, with Nathan Morcom third as co-driver Tom McLennan missed the opener at Race Phillip Island.
Just four points behind in Silver Cup is the Lubrimaxx/Miedecke Motorsport Ford Mustang of George Miedecke and Rylan Gray, which has already scored three victories this season
Racing returnee Seton forms a formidable team with Jake Camilleri in the similar Gomersall Motorsport example.
Zoe Woods will team up alongside Danny Stutterd in the TekworkX Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS MR at The Bend as she continues her rapid progression to complete Silver Cup.
Aiming to close in on Smollen and Mineeff in the Pro-Am standings on home turf will be the Ginetta G55 GT4 of Mark Cotterell and rising star Jarrod Hughes. The British coupe was quick at the previous round until a component failure ended their weekend before racing began, so redemption is on the cards at Queensland Raceway.
Key competition will come from many fellow Queensland-based partnerships led by Steve Jakic and Ryder Quinn in the Black Diamond Building and Construction BMW M4 GT4 G82 in addition to circuit owner Tony Quinn, who is partnered by New Zealand prospect Matt Mccutcheon in the Game Over Mercedes-AMG GT4.
Mercedes-AMG is well represented in Pro-Am as Mark Griffith has engaged Morris to co-drive in the Team Nineteen entry, while Love Motorsport’s two examples feature too. Sam Brabham will bring GT4 endurance experience to the table alongside Bailey Love, while father Rob is joined by Antonio Astuti.
Am Cup was dominated by Jacob Lawrence driving solo for the first time at The Bend in the Randall Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82 and for Queensland Raceway John Bowe returns to co-drive. The second Randall Racing BMW for Jamie Augustine and Peter Lawrence will also be a factor.
The Mercedes-AMG side of the field will provide strong competition as Tasmanian Ben Newman returns alongside production car ace Beric Lynton.
Debutants at The Bend, Scott Turner and Rob Rubis continue their assault driving the Mackay Goodwin Lloyds Auctions Ginetta G55 GT4.
Round Three of Monochrome GT4 Australia will be held as part of a stacked Shannons SpeedSeries event at EVENTelec on August 2-4.
