The details for young gun Cooper Murray’s once in a lifetime opportunity in the Porsche Global Junior Shootout have been confirmed.
Going up against 11 of the best Porsche juniors around the world, Murray will get the chance to secure a position as part of the international Porsche works team at a challenging three-day event.
Taking place at the Motor Aragón in Spain from Tuesday 23 November to Thursday 25 November, 12 participants will undergo medical checks, press activities and interview sessions, as well as two days behind the wheel doing driving tests.
After two years in the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia and one more than successful season in the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Series, Murray won the opportunity to represent Australasia at this year’s Shootout.
Having arrived in Europe earlier this month, Murray took part in the Carrera Cup France to get used to the new 992 generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car used in the shootout, snagging a well deserved podium in the round.
The Victorian is hoping to emulate the success of previous Porsche Carrera Cup Australia winners in Matt Campbell (2016) and Jaxon Evans (2018), both of whom have gone on to have highly successful professional careers.
Other drivers to have participated in the Australian Junior Programme, include Jordan Love, Cameron Hill, Nick Foster, Andre Heimgartner and Dylan O’Keeffe.
Murray is yet to confirm whether he will make the remaining Carrera Cup Australia rounds, with Bathurst next week and the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships’ finale at The Bend Motorsport Park on 10-12 December.
