Despite Phillip Island’s proximity, the Monochrome GT4 Australia field continues to grow with Valery Muzman joining the already-stacked field.
The 57-year-old joins the growing category off the back of some time spent in ProdSports and will be behind the wheel of a recently purchased Voz Property Group backed Ginetta G56.
Alongside teammate Steven Wan, Muzman was looking forward to taking the step up into GT4 and believed the race formats were a major factor into choosing the series.
“I used to race a Lotus in ProSports, but it did not fit into a lot of other categories, so I decided to step up and get a car that I could run in other categories, so I purchased the Ginetta, and when GT4 Australia came along, it was a natural step,” Muzman said.
“I like the race formats offered by GT4 Australia and that they do a lot of events on various circuits, there also seems to be a lot of interest around the category and I can see it growing.”
Whilst Muzman doesn’t have too much experience racing, his Ginetta G56 has certainly had its fair share of track time, having been a race-winning car in a variety of European categories.
“I don’t have a lot of experience, starting out in Super Sprints in 2017 before moving into NSW ProdSports, but I have won a few trophies and I am looking forward to seeing what I can achieve in GT4 Australia,” Muzman added.
“My main goal is to have fun, and to bring a straight car back home. This will be my first time in the category, and my first time on semi slicks, so I will just take it as it comes.
“Ginetta has a good track record of taking wins in GT4 in Europe, and I like the choice of engine also in the LS3 V8 with the Xtrac Gearbox.
“The price is well suited to my wallet also.”
Muzman will take the track for the first time on Friday, when the series competes alongside the Mobil 1 Australian Production Cars at Phillip Island as part of the third round of the Shannons SpeedSeries bill.
Tickets for the third round of the Shannons SpeedSeries are still available via motorsporttickets.com.au.
For those who are unable to make the trip to Phillip Island, Stan Sport will provide live and uninterrupted coverage from most of Saturday and Sunday’s action, while 9Gem will also broadcast three hours of Saturday afternoon’s racing.
The official new season of the Mobil 1 Australian Production Cars and Monochrome GT4 Australia Series kicks off at the Shannons SpeedSeries Phillip Island event on 12-14 May.
