After a record Shannons Nationals live stream and TV broadcast in Sydney last month, the Shannons Nationals will welcome two new commentators at Phillip Island with Matt Naulty and Jack Perkins joining the coverage.
Perkins and Naulty join the team, with Shannons regulars Greg Rust and Cameron van den Dungen both unavailable for this round due to pre-existing commitments.
Naulty will join regular host Aaron Noonan in the commentary box throughout the two day stream, as well as for all three carsales TCR Australia Series races on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, Perkins will work alongside Emma Notarfrancesco in the pit lane across the weekend, giving his unique insights into the four categories as part of this round, which includes the carsales TCR Australia Series, Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge, CAMS Australian Endurance Championship and the CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship.
Naulty, an experienced commentator both in Australia and overseas, said he was excited to be part of the Shannons Nationals, with strong interest in all categories, including TCR.
“I watched the first round of TCR Australia and I love the racing. It’s a great mixture of youth and experienced drivers, as well as a wide variety of different brands of cars,” Naulty said.
“Having guys like Will Brown in the field is a great yard stick, and Garth (Tander) is going to be a big draw card too.
“It’s unreal that there’s three very well credentialed female drivers too. Molly Taylor is a cool story with her rally background, and I really rate Chelsea Angelo as a driver.
“There are so many positives for TCR Australia, including the short and sharp races. They’ll be lots of action and I can’t wait to sit in the box with ‘Noonz’ and call the action.”
Perkins echoed those sentiments, saying he was looking forward to being part of the Phillip Island round.
“I’m really keen to be part of the Round 2 at Phillip Island this weekend,” Perkins said.
“I watched from the couch with interest the first round in Sydney, and I was impressed, so to be involved in the broadcast is going to be good fun and I’m looking forward to working with a good team.
“TCR is a great little series. There has been hype for it, not only in Australia abut all around the world. It’s a global formula with a great mix of brands and drivers. The racing was good and there’s a lot of interest, and you get the feeling that it’s only going to get bigger and better.”
Tickets for the Shannons Nationals’ visit to Phillip Island are now on sale and can be purchased here, while fans can watch all the action live and free through the live stream on speedseries.com.au on Saturday and Sunday.
The Shannons Nationals’ second round for 2019 takes place at Phillip Island on 7-9 June.
