AWC Race Tasmania schedule released

A packed schedule for the third annual AWC Race Tasmania has been released ahead of the event on February 24-26.

The traditional opening round of the Shannons SpeedSeries will again descend on Symmons Plains Raceway, opening the season for Supercheap Auto TCR Australia, S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship, Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters and the National Trans Am Series.

Joining the four core Shannons SpeedSeries categories are two state-based categories, the Tasmanian Hyundai Excels and Tassie Tin Tops alongside demonstrations to provide added intrigue to the event.

It’s set to be an exciting campaign for the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series, capped off by the TCR World Tour taking in the final two rounds of the year, but it all starts on Friday with two practice sessions, before qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday followed by two encounters on Sunday.

The thrilling S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship will again aim to lower the lap record at Symmons Plains across qualifying and three races.

The popular Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters class returns to Symmons Plains following a year away, with more action set to come from its four-race schedule including the Feature Race as a bit of old school comes back to AWC Race Tasmania.

National Trans Am always provides action as an exciting field of drivers arrive in Tasmania aiming to make a great start to their campaigns across qualifying and three races across the weekend.

Further racing from the Tasmanian Hyundai Excels and Tassie Tin Tops ensures all bases will be covered as Symmons Plains comes alive.

Drift demos throughout Saturday and Sunday will add further action at AWC Race Tasmania, while not taking away from the racing.
