The opening round at Sydney Motorsport Park provided a strong start for Wayne, Aaren and Drew Russell who concluded the weekend victorious across all three races, as well as Class X winners.

Sunday’s 300 kilometre enduro race ran entirely under green flag conditions with no retirements or incidents. After a difficult Saturday, Iain and Grant Sherrin were able to finish second outright and take home the third-place trophy for the round in class X.

Aaren, Drew and Wayne Russell currently lead the championship by 46 points, while veterans Beric Lynton and Tim Leahy sit in second after finishing round one third outright due to tyre issues in the final race.

With four rounds remaining for 2022 there is plenty still to play for with the Australian Production Cars to resume its season at Queensland Raceway on 5-7 August.
