Australian Production Cars (APC) will switch to a single control tyre in 2024, with all competitors to utilise the Yokohama AO50 tyre at every round.
After a look into competitor trends and tyre choices across previous years, the category conducted an in-depth tender process and Yokohama was ultimately selected as this year’s control tyre manufacturer.
Following on from the thorough investigation, Production Car Racing Ltd General Manager Troy Williams was pleased with the decision to switch to a single control tyre.
“We have had a tyre panel in place for APC for a few years now, and over time we have seen a large number of competitors choosing to compete on Yokohama tyres at our events,” Williams said.
“After reviewing these trends and discussing with competitors, and with global supply concerns and simplicity in mind, we have decided to make this return to a dedicated tyre for the APC, as has been the predominant approach throughout APC’s history.
“We look forward to seeing what our racers have in store for us in 2024 aboard Yokohama tyres as we contest 16 hours of racing at some of Australia’s best racetracks across a five-round calendar.”

All interested APC competitors are encouraged to contact their local Yokohama motorsport dealer to obtain tyres.
In addition to a control tyre, the category has confirmed its season structure, with a variety of race formats to make up the five-round calendar.
All five rounds of the 2024 season will feature at the Shannons SpeedSeries, with the season opener taking place at Race Sandown next month.
