Thanks to our proud partners Custom Cars and Coffee Melbourne and Melbourne BMW, the 2018 Shannons Nationals field will be led by a brand-new BMW M4 Coupè.
A high-performance vehicle for both the road and the race track; it’s perfect for drifts, high-speed bends and long straights in between.
The heart of the new BMW M4 Coupé is the M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine, holding tremendous power and an unmistakable sound.
Interplay between optimally-tuned motor sport technologies allow a thrust of 317kW, which can be increased to 331kW with the BMW M4 Competition Coupé.
Features
M carbon ceramic brake
The use of an innovative carbon-fibre compound ceramic break reduces the weight by 13.5kg and improves brake-fade stabilisation. The brakes are corrosion-free and more resistant to wear and tear.
M light-alloy wheels
The forged aluminium wheels are ultra-light. Rotating mass is reduced and so the vehicle’s reaction times are improved.
Aluminum bonnet and side panels
The weight reduction of 10.6kg leads to an axle load distribution of almost 50:50, ensuring not only lower fuel consumption but also a noticeable increase in agility and driving performance. The vehicle’s low centre of gravity optimises handling and guarantees the best possible control.
Carbon fibre reinforced plastic front end strut brace
The carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) front end strut brace increases front-end rigidity, improves steering precision and increases directional accuracy. The use of CFRP enables a weight of just 1.5kg.
Lightweight axles and CFRP drive shaft
The reduction in weight and heightened stability of the lightweight axles ensures improved traction and directional stability. The CFRP drive shaft increases rigidity thus optimising acceleration and vehicle reaction times.
Seats and steering wheel
The M seats and M leather steering wheel are ergonomically optimised for sporty driving. The systematic use of lightweight construction materials reduces the vehicle weight, resulting in an improved ratio of mass to output and thus even more performance.
CFRP roof
A clearly outlined lightweight construction philosophy: The contoured roof not only looks great, the use of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) also lowers the vehicle’s centre of gravity, thus increasing agility.
C-SMC Tailgate
The use of carbon fibres reduces the overall weight of the tailgate by 5kg. An integrated spoiler reduces uplift, thus improving the aerodynamic properties of the vehicle.
