99motorsport to run TCR in 2024

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia will welcome a brand new team for the 2024 season, with New South Wales based 99motorsport announcing its commitment to the series.

Run by the ever-experienced Marcus LaDelle, the team has officially acquired the Melbourne Performance Centre Audi RS 3, formerly driven by Chaz Mostert in 2021 and Will Brown in 2022.

LaDelle also plans to run two cars for the 2024 season and intends to have them both on the grid for February’s season opener at Sandown International Raceway as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.

Should he get both cars on the grid, it will mark an impressive transformation for the team, which has rapidly grown from a single entry in state-level competition to a multi-car outfit in the Toyota 86 Series.

LaDelle himself will not drive either car next year and will instead take on a Team Manager role, as he now looks to fill the seat with potential racers.

“It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks,” LaDelle said.

“I was actually put on to TCR and the Category Manager Lisa Totani by her brother Matthew, who happens to be our videographer. So that was a pretty unique way to get introduced, and as it turns out TCR fits the bill perfectly for what we planned to run in 2024.

“99 started as a personal pursuit to run my own cars, but it’s now evolved with more of a developmental program through Formula RX8 and Toyota 86. TCR is the next step for those drivers, a great category that’s commercially viable and has great synergy with the market and manufacturer relevance.

“There’s a great opportunity to bring drivers in to TCR and then give them the platform to go race in Europe, and the World Tour running down here only amplifies that.”

The Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series will begin its 2024 season at Sandown International Raceway on 9-11 February.
